Glendale Grove, Cork Escape of water works.
TAL were involved from the start on this one with the engineer in order to get a claim cleared for the works on an escape of water claim.
Once the claim was settled TAl completed the works on time here. Works were balanced around the occupants of the house to allow them access and still complete the works here.
The works here involved the pressure grouting of the existing foundations and the replacement of the existing drainage system (which was clay) with PVC.
The water main was also replaced to the house.
Pressure Grouting & Anchors @ Kenley Road, Model Farm Road, Cork
The works here involved exposing the locations at the top of the foundations (29 number points) around the house including 4 points to an internal room. Check grouting works and then the installation of anchors to circa 6m deep.
Despite the presence of deep foundations TAL completed the works here on time and within the original budget.
Once the foundation works were completed TAL then completed a refit of the drainage around the property and tested and passed the new systems for the engineer.
Once the drainage works were complete TAL replaced the disturbed areas around the property.
168mm ODEX Piles @ Castleknock Hotel Extension
TAL were involved with proposing a pile system to the job engineers in the pre-construction submittal.
Once this was completed TAl were successful in the tendering process for the Main contractor. The system here was a 168mm ODEX cased pile down onto rock and a rock socket installed for a minimum of 2m.
Testing was completed on site on four piles and this confirmed the loads that were required on site.
Dynamic Probes, Wilton Cork
TAL were brought in to complete 4 number dynamic probes at this property.
Because of the restricted access the rig that TAL uses was able to complete the probes at the rear of the property (having to take the rig through the garage to access the rear)
Dynamic Probes Kanturk, Co. Cork
TAL were asked to complete probes internally on a house in Kanturk.
Because of the nature of the TAL probing rig we were able to complete the probes on 3 of the locations internally within the allowed work height.
Staged Pressure Grouting Uam Var Avenue & Glecoo Park
TAL were involved from the start on these jobs from site investigation to being involved in costing the works and then completing them in a timely fashion to suit the clients.
Pressure grouting was completed in two stages to 3m deep.
The drains and finishes were all replaced in the affected areas.
Grouting & Anchors at Park Owen, Bonaventure & Mount Sion Road.
TAL were involved be the main contractor to propose a system for the subsidence issues (due to escape of water) to the different houses. TAL brought on board one of their engineers to view the sites complete site investigation and propose a system for the works.
The works that were completed on site here were a combination system of grouting up the 2m to solidify this area and then the installation of anchors here through the solidified grouted section down to 6m. Also installed was one beam with piles.
Pressure Grouting Sligo County Library Foundation Repairs
TAL were involved in meeting with Sligo County Council and propose several solutions to the problem of a corner of the library that’s foundation was failing. (approximately 6m on each side of the corner).
It was agreed that the best solution that had been proposed for the works here was pressure grouting in various stages along the effected area of works. Once TAL set up on site and we completed two dynamic probes to verify the ground conditions.
Then TAL completed their drilling of 36 number boreholes along the effected area. these then were pressure grouted in stages under the existing foundation.
.Hollowbar Piles @ a Shop in Athlone
TAL were involved with the engineers to install a low vibration pile system inside in a shop that was still in operation during the day.
A Dynamic probes were completed inside in the location of one of the pads in order to determine what the ground would be like.
Hollowbar piles (R38-500 bars) were then installed into the two pad locations. The works had to be completed outside nornal hours so as not to in-peed in the daily running of the shop.
There were two pads here and there were 4 piles installed into each pad. Plates and nuts were installed for connecting the piles to the pads.
Anchors (rock), Baltimore Quay Wall, Cork
TAL was involved in putting forward a design for the Baltimore Quay Wall stabilization works. The project involved anchors to be inserted at an angle from the edge of the quay wall back in and under the roadway (into rock). There were 15 number at 4M centres.
Due to the fact that this system was on the sea front, a 120 year life span was required. TAL used Dywidag 25mm GEWI solid steel thread bars with double corrosive protection.
At the top of each anchor was a square plate system, with nuts which were set to the right level before creating an in-situ concrete plinth along the front of the quay wall.
